Hawaii Ocean Front Photo Shoot
Jul 08, 2020
Sometimes I just need to hear the ocean waves washing up on the shoreline enjoying the loud sound that comes with it so that I can focus on that instead of everything going on in my mind. It puts me in the space to notice the photos that are all around me. I feel myself relaxing into the photoshoot along the shore line. I can smell the ocean breeze and feel my heart slowing down and my gut relaxing.
I know I probably have said this about other ocean photos that I have taken but that is precisely why I enjoy the water and being along the shore line. I just love the feeling of the breeze on my face and the sand under my feet. It feels comforting to just be in the moment and let my eyes start to decipher what it is that I am drawn to highlight in a photo. I appreciate that the area is quiet and that I can just feel the day around me. I have no time frame or place that I have to be and so I am just present and feeling free of constraints communing with nature. I feel a part of it as I am on my photo shoot and this is what I look for as I immerse myself in the atmosphere that I have chosen to be a part of and look for photos to come to my attention. I appreciate the feeling of being in a sort of solitude but also a part of what is evolving around me in nature. I love the foamy white waves making their way to the shore line and then the patterns that they leave along the sand. I do my best to translate the feelings of it, the beauty of it, the feeling of the temperature is perfect against my skin and the wind is a gentle breeze rather than a wind that blows my hair in my face as I work with the scenery before me on this particular photoshoot. I am enjoying this without any particular agenda of what I think I should be coming up with as far as photos and so as the birds fly along on the water and then land on the shore it feels a part of the implied feeling of where the viewer might be and what they might be experiencing as they look at this photo or linger with it in their home or office setting.
I love the lines of the water that are there but subtle as they soak into the sand. I enjoy that the green is a blue hue that shows up in the top right of photo and the sandy beach grounds me in the bottom left corner while the white waves move deeper into the photo drawing my eye upward. It’s a wonderful behind the scenes day in the life of a photographer. I love the photos that I end up taking and getting to be a part of today.
